The Finland D Work visa aims to address labor shortages in Finland by welcoming foreign nationals to fill gaps in the Finnish job market.
Basic Requirements for the Finland D Visa
To apply for the Finland D work visa, you’ll need the following:
- Job offer from a Finland-certified employer.
- An international passport.
- Educational documents.
- A residence permit document.
Finland Certified Employers for Jobs

Residence Permit
After securing a job offer, you’ll need to apply for a residence permit, which your employer will assist with. Note that the residence permit is different from the visa and will be delivered to you in Finland. You can schedule your residence permit appointment [here]
Applying for the Finland D Visa
Once you have a job offer and a residence permit, you can apply for the Finland D visa at the nearest Finland Embassy in your country, providing all the required documents mentioned above. The time frame for processing is typically 10 days, regardless of the country.
Duration of the Finland D Visa
The Finland D visa is valid for 2 years, with the possibility of renewal. After four years in Finland, you can apply for Permanent Residency and Finnish citizenship, making it a pathway to permanent residency.
Moving with Your Family
You can’t move with your family immediately. They can join you six months after your arrival in Finland. Your “family” includes your spouse and children under 18.
