The Schuman Traineeship program
The Schuman traineeships are paid opportunities available at various European Parliament locations, including Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg, and Liaison Offices in Member States. These traineeships bear the name of Robert Schuman, a key figure in the European integration project, which has brought peace and prosperity to Europe for over 70 years.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for a Schuman traineeship, you must:
- Be 18 years or older.
- Be a national of a European Union Member State or an accession/candidate country (with a limited number of opportunities for nationals of other countries).
- Hold a university-level diploma.
- Demonstrate proficiency in at least one official EU language and a very good knowledge of a second language (non-Member State citizens should excel in English, French, or German).
- Provide a clean criminal record.
- Not have had previous traineeships or work experience exceeding two consecutive months in an EU institution, body, or agency.
- Not have undertaken a study visit at the Secretariat of the European Parliament within six months prior to the traineeship start.
Application Process
To apply, visit the traineeship application page and select up to three traineeships. If shortlisted, you’ll need to provide supporting documents to confirm your eligibility. If selected, you’ll receive an official Admission Letter via email.
Note
Schuman traineeships are granted for a five-month period:
Traineeship period from October 1 to February 28/29 (Apply from May 1 to May 31)
Traineeship period from March 1 to July 31 (Apply from October 1 to October 31)
